Apex Sports Camp will be back for their 3rd edition May 17th- 18th and 19th at Dollard-St-Laurent arena in LaSalle. Hockey players age 15 to 20 years old hoping to play in the NCAA can showcase their skills to NCAA Division 1 coaches. The camp directors, Claude Morin and Phil Roy, both former NCAA players and graduate of Clarkson University are extremely happy to be back. The purpose is to give all the appropriate NCAA information, to let young players from Quebec know about the College Hockey and to expose them to Division 1 College Coaches. The comments from players and parents who took part in the previous two camps; from the content, the quality of the coaches on hand and the logistics convinced us to do it again this year.

Apex’s Sports Camp format will stay the same with practices and games over 3 days. The on ice clinics and the presentations will be given by NCAA division 1 Coaches and Mr. Nate Ewell from College Hockey Inc. Each player will take part in 3 practices, 2 games and an academic seminar which will explain all the requirements of the NCAA Eligibility Center. Each coach will present information regarding their respective schools. Each conference will be represented, Phil Roy from Clarkson University (ECAC), Dave Peters from Dartmouth (ECAC, IVY LEAGUE), Peter Aubry from Mercyhurst College (Atlantic Hockey), Ty Eigner from Bowling Green (CCHA), Ben Barr from Providence (Hockey East) and Junior Lessard the 2004 Hobey Baker winner from Minnesota Duluth (WCHA) will be on hand.

The camp was very enriching and productive last year; mentioned Ty Eigner of Bowling Green University in Ohio. There are a lot of talented players from Quebec and few know the US College option and the process. It’s a great opportunity for us to identify and recruit new prospects as well as present our programs. Consequently, players and parents are informed about us and NCAA hockey. I really like Apex’s concept which gets us involved directly with the players on the ice for practice and behind the bench for games. We get to know them better and it is an important factor when recruiting and making decisions.

Apex Sports Camp will take place at Dollard-St-Laurent arena in LaSalle from May 17th to 19th.
