Spartans toughness tested

The St. Laurent Spartans are reflecting on their last season. Though it was difficult at times, there are positive signs for the future.

« I think the highlight of the season was a 16 to nothing shutout win versus LaSalle, but the best part of my job is to see the kids improving, » said Spartans President Shawn Daniels.

This year was tough for the other teams as well. Midgets went 4 and 6, but lost one game due to paperwork error.

The Bantam team had a 2 and 1 start. Then the injury bug hit the team hard and they finished a disappointing 2 and 8. One bright spot was the emergence of Philip Croisetière who replaced a key player and became a team leader.

Another bad turn was that both Atoms and Peewees were winless this season but had a record amount of first time players. If they return, both teams should rebound in 2018.

Wintertime football

This winter, the Spartans are offering football activities on the inside turf of the sports complex for the very first time in St-Laurent football history.  They are looking forward to the winter season and feel it is something that very few community or school teams have access to.

It will be starting on January 20.
