Jean-Marc Fournier was re- elected as Saint-Laurent’s Member of National Assembly of Québec September 4. He was elected with 22 483 votes out of 33 844 votes. Now in the opposition with a Parti québécois minority government, he will continue to serve the people of Saint-Laurent.
The Saint-Laurent’s MNA plans to have a very successful mandate. He is already planning to run in Saint-Laurent at the next election. After thanking the volunteers who worked on his campaign, he thanked his opponents who took part in the democratic process. « I thank all those who ran; I tip my hat to them. Democracy is society’s most important tool, « said the MNA.
The Saint-Laurent’s MNA intends to address three key issues for the riding. He wants to create new spots in school to meet the needs of the growing population. Mr. Fournier will work to modernize the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal and will work to improve the well-being of seniors and access to quality health care.
During election night, the newly elected MNA made a declaration to the citizens of Saint-Laurent « You’ve put your trust in me again, I am honored. I love the people of Saint-Laurent and we will continue to work as a team. In Saint-Laurent, I think it is in our advantage to stay in Canada and I will work in that direction at the national level, « said Mr. Fournier.
Team player
« The job of an MNA is to be a team player. When the election is over, there is more label, « says Fournier. « As Saint-Laurent’s MNA, I have a lot of work on the table; I will work with my colleagues, the mayor, the institutions and social groups, « he says.
Mr. Fournier is now in opposition to a PQ government. « They were chosen by the people in a democratic way, » he admitted. Pauline Marois’s government is a minority one « We will be able to avoid a referendum. We will be numerous enough to avoid it, « said M Fournier.
He wants to limit what he calls « the crisis inventions » of the Parti québécois, which would be part of the referendum strategy, according to him. « I’ll fight to the end against measures that promote the separation of Quebec. It is to the advantage of Quebec to be in the Canda. « The Saint-Laurent MNA will also work for economic growth. « Social progress depends on economic progress, » he concludes.
