House for single mothers planned

A dilapidated building located on de Salaberry Street close to Grenet will be converted into a social housing project for single mothers. In addition to supporting the reintegration of these women, “Mon toit, mon Cartier” house will contribute to revitalize an area which has a bad reputation. The place, intended for mothers with their minor children, will be able to accommodate 16 women and help them reach resources in the district all the while offering housing. The new organization, Mon toit, mon Cartier, which for the time being has the same name as the project, is at the origin of the initiative, within the framework of the integrated urban revitalization plan for the Laurentien-Grenet sector. The organization will hire a worker who will be on site to help participants in their life plans. (V.L. /M.B.)
