Riverview Elementary is hosting two fun holiday-themed fundraising activities for their STEAM program and inviting the entire Verdun community to enjoy an online auction and a Breakfast with Santa Christmas Market.
The activities are going to raise funds for the creation of a “Makerspace” room for the students. Riverview has recently adopted a STEAM curriculum, which involves an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as gateways to guide students to inquiry, discussion, and critical thinking.
The Makerspace is a « Do It Yourself » area for exploration where children can meet, create, invent and learn together through team work and cooperation. The spaces are filled with tools of all kinds, from hammers to laptops to glue-sticks and digital cameras.
The online auction that will start at 9 pm on Wed, December 13 hosted on Facebook. The public can access the online auction from Dec 13-18 by joining the group “Riverview Winter Auction 2017” on Facebook. There will be over 100 items up for auction, including a Bose sound system, a one-night stay at any ALT hotel and many gift certificates.
The second event is a Breakfast with Santa and Christmas Market to be held in the Riverview Elementary school gym (971 Riverview), on Saturday December 16 from 9 am to 12 pm. It will be a pancake breakfast where families can get pictures taken with Santa and pick up some unique gifts.
