FCM elects Lachine Mayor Claude Dauphin as its first VP
“I would like to thank all the delegates and especially the members of the Quebec caucus for their unfailing support. I believe that the FCM is the main forum for addressing the cities’ needs and demands towards the federal government and other partners. We actively advocate so that federal policies and programs correspond to the needs of municipalities and their citizens. I would also like to congratulate our new President, Karen Leibovici, and all the other members of the FCM’s Executive Committee and the Board of Directors”, said Claude Dauphin.
Mr. Dauphin will be joined on the Executive Committee by President Karen Leibovici, Councillor, City of Edmonton, AB; Second Vice-President, Mayor Brad Woodside, City of Fredericton, NB; and Third Vice-President, Councillor Raymond Louie, Vancouver, BC.
“I’m very pleased to have Claude serve as our First Vice-president. I look forward to continue working with him to build the strong, safe, and sustainable cities and communities Canada needs to support its families and economy,” said Karen Leibovici, newly elected President of FCM.
Also for the Saskatoon venue, Claude Dauphin had been officially mandated by Montreal Mayor Gérald Tremblay to represent him at the FCM Big City Mayor’s Caucus (BCMC). This caucus comprises of a regionally representative group of FCM member cities. It meets two to three times a year to discuss shared issues and to reinforce FCM’s policy and advocacy agenda set by the National Board of Directors.
