Local dancer shines in the role of Cinderella
The role of Cinderella will be danced by Lachine resident Samantha Savard Lamothe. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to see this young talent, who is well on her way to a promising future in dance.
In 2011, Samantha won “La Bourse Renée Rouleau” from Collège Ste-Anne, which allowed her to attend an intensive training programme at the prestigious School of the Toronto Dance Theatre.
In the autumn she was honoured as the laureate of the ‘‘Volet Culturel – Artiste de la Relève” by the borough of Lachine. This prize recognizes the talent and promise of an up and coming artist from the community.
Most recently, Samantha was accepted into the professional programme at L.A.D.M.M.I, one of the country’s finest schools of contemporary dance.
Therefore, this will be your last chance to see Samantha light up the stage with L’Académie de Danse Classique.
A cast of over 50 dancers
Luckily, talent runs in the family, and Samantha will be joined on stage by her sister, Ashley, who will be dancing the role of the Fairy God Mother.
Along with a cast of over 50 dancers you will also have the opportunity to see Michelle Mayo and Alessadra Guiliano as the “Ugly Step Sisters” and the always hilarious Brian Simmons as the horrible “Step Mother”. The role of the “Prince” will be danced by professional dancer, François Richard, who is best known for his work with choreographer José Navas.
Junior School
The evening will open with the ever- charming Junior School. This year’s production, “Tom Kitten”, based on the tale by Beatrix Potter, will surely enchant and impress you.
Emmanuelle Trepanier-Brault’s wonderful creativity and choreography, for over 65 students, will take you on a magical journey through the garden of Tabitha Twitchit with Tom, Mittens and Moppet.
Jazz students
The show would not be complete without performances by the jazz students, who will present a new dance choreographed by Julia Rossi. Two new contemporary pieces will also be presented.
The Here and After is a new work by Katia Lacelle for six dancers and Courant, featuring ten dancers, is the latest creation by Linda Marchand, artistic director of L’Académie de Danse Classique.
The students and teachers of L’Académie de Danse Classique invite you to come and share their passion for dance. It will be an opportunity for you to support the young artists in your community while enjoying a memorable evening of dance.
