First task for the future green lane

Standing together, in front of a project for a green lane proposed by the Ahuntsic-Cartierville éco-district, residents took part in the great task of cleaning a small section of the street, located south of de Salaberry Street, between Grenet and de Meulles Streets. During what was a cold morning on October 22 some 20 volunteers who took part were provided with gloves and garbage bags. The project, at a cost of $350,000, includes removing the asphalt and installing two concrete structures to let cars pass. What remains will be vegetation. This amounts to the planting of approximately 100 trees and shrubs. Indigenous plants and perennials are also planned to be added. Another activity will be organized in April right before the landscaping of the lane in May and June. (V.L./M.B)
