Graduates of Vanier College’s Environmental and Wildlife Management program will move faster through their studies at Laval University, starting this year.

A new agreement means the students will be able to complete a Bachelor’s degree in biology at the Quebec university in two years instead of the usual three.

Director general at the college, John McMahon, said in a release that he would like to see more DEC-BAC agreements. “The benefits of recognizing skills and studies already acquired and putting students on a faster track for obtaining a bachelor’s degree can be a good incentive for them to persist in their studies and do well.”

Laval University’s Centre for Forest Research is the largest of its kind in Canada, and among the largest in the world. The Centre for Northern Studies looks at land, freshwater and coastal environments in the north to study how they react to climate and socio-economic change.

The Environmental and Wildlife Management program has agreements with several other universities, including Bishop’s University, in Sherbrooke, and the University of Cape Breton, in Nova Scotia.
