Paint on pedestrian crosswalks dangerous
I called 311 to inform them of this situation, but obviously not much could be done right at that moment. I am concerned because other crosswalks that I saw along our stroll were all painted with this non-compliant paint.
All the crosswalks where the paint wasn’t run over by car tires was very slippery… especially for older citizens or young children. I know because I slipped as I took a step. I was wondering if someone could investigate this since this could potentially be a hazard.
I also am not impressed that the company contracted to do this is using a paint not suitable or if it is the city applying the paint. In either case, not enough testing was done, and this paint should be covered with paint properly formulated for outdoors.
By the way I have no idea when the paint was applied, but it was recently, as there is a definite difference between the paint nearest the sidewalks (white and clean) and the paint in the middle is already faded and grey from the tires of the vehicles passing over the paint.
So bottom line: the paint is not safe, and it does not last. I am a tax payer and I do not want to pay to have this probelm fixed since my tax dollars were used to pay for the original application of the paint.
