Trees: borough gaining the upper hand
Overall, there are 44,000 trees in the public areas of the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough. Each year, more than 400 trees are cut down in the region. In 2010, there were 428 trees which were removed from the public domain. Fortunately for citizens, 473 new trees were planted in order to replace those cut down.
According to the Sustainable Development Plan and the Tree Policy of the City of Montreal, the boroughs must, from now on, present a positive ratio. During the previous years, the cutting of trees in public areas was higher than the number of those planted in Ahuntsic-Cartierville. (V.L./M.B.)
