“How do you lose track of 3 billion dollars?”

The auditor general recently made this worrying discovery, said New Democrat MP Morin (NDG-Lachine). No one in the government seems to know how the money, meant to fight terrorism, was spent. It is impossible to tell if it was spent properly!

“Young Canadians are faced with a record-breaking unemployment rate. They are losing their jobs to temporary foreign workers and are struggling with crippling debts. This government just cannot figure out how it has been spending over 3 billion dollars, and we should trust the Conservatives to use taxpayers’ money efficiently?”

New Democrats have denounced the fact that the Treasury Board president has promised to shed light on the issue only in 2014. That’s 13 years after the beginning of these expenditures, and 5 years after the budget has been fully spent on… what we’re not quite sure.

“We’re talking about billions of dollars that could have been spent on making Employment Insurance a more efficient program. But the Conservatives would rather deprive a majority of Canadian workers of this opportunity” concluded MP Isabelle Morin.
