Remember working in Lachine Wire and Cable

Dear fellow Lachiners and our neighbours in Dorval, remember working for Nortel – it was Northern Electric in our/your time; I implore all and your friends and relatives to contact the Prime Minister Harper and the Minister of Industry, Honorable Christian Paradis.

Their indifference to us suffering from the demise of Nortel compounded with their government’s inaction and indifference, must stop here and now. This Conservative government finally will listen and act upon our just demands, but not without your help. You will be doing a great service for all Canadians today and in the future.

The Nortel Retirees and former employees Protection Canada (NRPC) published an open letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper on April 15th, signed by Don Sproule National President NRPC. Imperative now, as the NRPC’s only choice was to declare that. in spite of repeated requests to meet with Minister Paradis, all efforts failed.

Briefly, after extensive research, we have proven our demands justified and vitally urgent, more so now than ever that not only pointing out the inconsistencies in the longstanding Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and Bankruptcy and Insolvency legislations, wherein there is inequality and no balance between creditors, but, outstanding is:

This government must stop post-filing interest for junk bondholders.

This issue needs to be clarified in current bankruptcy and insolvency laws (BIA and CCAA). There are OVER $1B DOLLARS at stake for Nortel’s former employees.

I am ashamed to say that our Quebec Conservative Members of parliament are not working for us. There are five Conservative MPs in this government, four are important Ministers close to Prime Minister Harper – where are you Honourables, Steven Blaney, Denis Lebel, Maxime Bernier, and the Minister with our folio, Christian Paradis; and MP Jacques Gourde?

I, humbly, implore all my neighbours in our wonderful community to stand up for us. Please, write, write, write! Note that letters addressed to: House of Commons, Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6. No stamp is required.
