A year full of events
2012 began with the mediatised disappearance and death of resident Clémence Umugwaneza, despite a large movement to find her. The students of Ahuntsic and Bois-de-Boulogne Colleges contributed to the strike actions and many residents took part in the demonstrations on the streets. On September 4th, for the provincial election, liberals Christine St-Pierre and Jean-Marc Fournier kept their districts of L’Acadie and Saint-Laurent. At the end of the year, counselor Harout Chitilian resigned from Union Montreal. In May, a suspicious package was discovered at Deputy St-Pierre’s office. While Bordeaux-Cartierville took action to welcome new residents and saw the launch of the construction of condos on Chabanel, in March, the residential Musto project aroused a deep debate in May and the following months. The borough got greener in 2012 with the opening of a green alley on Salaberry and a green square at the Y Centre in Cartierville. On the sports front, Bois-de-Boulogne welcomed in August the beach volley national cup. In the borough, 500 youths participated at the 35th Jeux de Montreal and the Sports Festival set up a new record with 2654 participants.
