100th birthday of Lachiner Hryhorij Sawadsky
On January 18th, 1914, Hryhorij Owerkovych Sawadsky was born in the village of Molodavo, in the Province of Volyn, Ukraine.
After surviving the hardships of WW1 & WW2 in Europe, Mr. Sawadsky immigrated to Canada from England with his wife, Paulina and their young daughter Anna, arriving July 1st, 1951.
The family settled and always resided in Lachine, Quebec, since their arrival 63 years ago. Mr. Sawadsky worked for Dominion Bridge in Lachine until his retirement.
Throughout his years in Lachine, he assumed an active role in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St-George located at 880 St. Antoine, Lachine.
