Revitalization of Laurentien: moving forward

The borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville and the city of Montreal is preparing the groundwork to modify the Laurentien-Lachapelle area, known for its deteriorating buildings. In order to attract more residents to this area, aqueduct and sewer work are in progress. A first draft regulation aimed at changing the zoning all around Laurentien and West Gouin Boulevards was also adopted on November 7. This moves the industrial zoning to one that is residential and commercial. Plans aim at slowing down industrial or heavy commercial projects, to avoid significant investments in those fields of activity that compromise the possibility of changing the vocation of this area.
