New domain name for Vanier College
Vanier College is the first cegep to adopt the .college domain extension. As of June 6, accessing the school’s website is as simple as typing vanier.college.
The change is in line with a revamped homepage for the college that is expected to be easier to navigate, according to Darren Becker, director of communications at Vanier.
“There are many advantages to this change since the new .college domain name is very user-friendly, shorter to type than our existing domain name and is easier for current and prospective students to remember,” Becker said in a release.
The college has also introduced Vanier Walk, a 360-degree digital tour of the campus, and Vanier Television (VTV), an online television network for students and staff.
What’s in a name?
The .college domain extension has been available to schools since March 2015. Unrestricted, it is available to anyone, meaning there is no verification process as to whether or not an educational institution is purchasing the extension.
The .edu extension is subject to eligibility requirements, including being an accredited post-secondary institution in the United States.
The new Vanier College extension, vanier.college redirects to the updated vaniercollege.qc.ca website
